And...We're Back

We got back from visiting family in MO Sunday night.

I know, I know...three whole days home and no post. Well, things kind of pile up after being gone for two weeks. But, I think I'm almost caught up. For the most part.

Have you ever noticed how much you eat when you're on vacation? It's almost like you have to hit every restaurant in town. In my defense, two of my favorite places to eat can't be found where I now live. So, of course, I have to get my fill of them while visiting. I think I gained five pounds each week we were there. Sigh.

We've been here south of Houston now for two whole years. I forget just how fast-paced it is here until I go back home for a visit. Small town life is just entirely different. Slower, more relaxed somehow. Things will get done when they get done. Everyone knows everyone else. They also know all of your business.

As much as I love being in my hometown visiting family, I do enjoy coming back to this fast-paced town we now call home.

When my boyos and I go back for a visit my parents always take us to Branson. I'll tell you about that next time.

Anywho, I know this is a lame post, but I'm still trying to get completely caught up. I'm still stuck in that small town mentality. ;)

Vacations and more MIA

The boyos and I will be heading out this Sunday to visit our family back in MO.

I do have a laptop that is, in fact, able to do wireless web...but...unfortunately, we'll be staying someplace that has no internet. *gasp*

I know.

It's a terrifying thought.

Two weeks with no internet. The world could end and I won't know about it because I'll be without internet.

I'll also be without dishes to do and dinner to cook and let's see, I'll probably be laying in a pool too. The horrors of it all!

I will survive.

I'll give it my all.

I'll be surfing the world wide web in my dreams...while I'm floating in the pool. *giggle, snort*

I'll have pictures to post and tales to tell when we get back in two weeks. Until then, Ciao!! ;)

Kirby

It's been ages since I've posted anything, and to be honest, I've been exceedingly busy. I've been so wrapped up in getting my oldest son's birthday party set up that I don't really have anything to blog about...unless you want to hear about Kirby.

Well, I'll tell you anyway.
Kirby is a little pink puff ball that is the star of several video games and a cartoon called Kirby Right Back At Ya. My boyos love him. Me? I don't really get it, but I'm old (I've been told by my boyos).

My oldest boyo decided he wanted a Kirby birthday party this year and being the awesome mom that I am, I agreed to it before really looking at what's available and, as it turns out, there's nothing available.

Nothing.

Not a single party item other than a cake topper. Not the cake, just a sheet you lay on top of the cake.

My first thought was "Well, shoot." When I gathered my wits I started scouring the internet for anything I could use. I promptly ordered a cake topper from this wonderful woman. She even personalized it for me. How cool is that?! The cake turned out pretty good.

I didn't find much to work with, but managed to get enough for some games and party gifts along with some decorations.
We did Pin The Mouth On KirbyI should mention here that I am not an artist. At all. So don't judge too harshly.

We played Kirby Trivia.
Yes, that's a homemade game board. I made around fifty question cards, separating them into categories. Each color is a different category.
Here are the game pieces.
I had my boyo pick out his favorite Kirby characters then printed them and laminated them. Using pieces from our Clue Jr. game for stands and the dice, we had our selves a great game!

I found something called Papercraft and, I admit, I kind of went crazy with it. This page and this page are my favorite places to get papercraft. Here are some of the ones I did.
This is King DededeThis is WaddleDoo and WaddleDee. (Who made these names up?)
This is Kirby and Ice Kirby.
I told you I went crazy with it. It is the most frustratingly fun thing I've ever done. Don't knock it until you've tried it at least once.

I think my oldest boyo had a great time yesterday at his party. He got to have his best friend *waves at best friend* and his sister *waves at sister* over for a couple of fun filled hours. I sent the best friend and his sister home with a few party favors. I printed out a Kirby coloring book, printed out some Kirby stickers and made an iron-on trasfer for each of them.

We work hard for our kids to have a couple hours of fun. But we aren't just working hard for that are we? We work hard so our kiddos will have lasting memories of a great childhood. ;)
